We have been working with Rugby Players Ireland (formerly IRUPA) for many years now, producing and filming their annual awards extravaganza. This years show was a great one, with former rugby greats Andrew Trimble and Barry Murphy taking on the hosting duties. The venue was once again the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road, whose ballroom was transformed into a very glamorous setting for the VIP attendees. Many bright lights of the Irish rugby scenes past and present were in attendance, rubbing shoulders with the great and good of the Irish business community.
The awards recognise and appreciate the best of the best of Irish rugby in a number of categories, including: Men and Women 15’s Player of the Year, men and Women 7’s Player of the Year, Moment of the Year, Try of the Year, Young Player of the Year and the all important Players Player of the Year. The final accolade is voted for by the players themselves and is considered one of the top prizes in Irish Rugby.
The other function of the awards is as a fundraised for Rugby Players Ireland which act as a tireless representative body for the players, both during and after their rugby careers. RPI operates to represent, develop and engage with their members – encouraging welfare, partnership and professional development.
